Keep up with Holy City Quartet right here.

January 20th, 2008:

Hey everybody! The start of a new year is here and 2008 is starting out really well for the guys in Holy City. We have a big surprise that we are not ready to share at this time but hopefully in the next several weeks that announcement will come. We are waiting on Gods approval then we will make the announcement.

We have already been to Florida in 2008 and it was 80 degrees and beautiful. The next weekend was just a little different. We jumped in the truck Saturday morning to head up to Raleigh to sing for the good folks at The Lighthouse Convention Center. The weather was not promising but we didn’t want to call and cancel. We were also excited because Rod, our old sound guy, was gonna be running sound for us that evening and the last time we were there it was an awesome evening. We got within 5 miles of The Lighthouse when they called us on the cell phone to tell us the evening was cancelled due to weather. So what else was there to do but turn around and head back home. Drive time, 11hours; Fuel cost, $200; 3 hours riding and talking with Hot Rod, priceless. We did get to reschedule at The Lighthouse for February 23 and are looking forward to this night. For some reason it wasn’t suppose to be, so we feel like the next time will be a great event. I was really looking forward to meeting some of the Arise Quartet out of the area. Mark Fink knows these guys and they were gonna be able to come and hear us sing. Please come back guys if you can.

We have started picking out music for a new project this year. We are excited about the idea we have but again that is another announcement we are saving for later. Another thing as far as projects are concerned is that we are selling the old projects again. From the original Holy City project through the Special Edition project we did with Elizabeth Person, there are 6 projects in all. We have taken them and put two projects on a CD each and selling them for $10 a piece. So you get Holy City and Just After on one CD, I Could Sing About Heaven and Good Old Church Songs on another (all of these were the original trio with Karl, Gene, and me), then the quartet CD with Around The Cross and Special Edition. Like I said each of these project are $10. What a deal! Wal-mart can’t beat that deal!

A lot of things going on and we are excited. We already have another trip to Florida scheduled in March and we love going down there. After this weather related thing in North Carolina this past weekend I think I will listen to Fink when he says “South in the winter, North in the summer”. It is just hard listening to a guy who moved south, from South Dakota to North Carolina, and still believes he lives “Up North”. You figure that one out and let me know.

We hope to see ya on the road soon. Keep Holy City in your prayers and keep God first in your life. It’s Almost Over, here on this earth. I look forward to Living In Glory and walking down that Glory Road one day. One day I will say Goodbye World Goodbye and have Just A Little talk With Jesus. All this talk about heaven makes me Feel Like Runnin’. Folks remember Canaan Land Is Just In Sight.

Longing for that Holy City,

Mike

May 01, 2007:

We are ready to go where ever God may lead! Things are getting exciting around here and we are ready to go. Holy City Quartet is now set again as a Male Quartet and we have the people in place we feel God has placed in our ministry. Mark McPherson has accepted the tenor position that has been open since November of 2005. Mark and I sang together in the Crystal River Quartet out of Fayetteville, NC in 2001. He has a heart for the Lord and is a true quartet man. Mark is excited about singing with Holy City and we are excited to have him. We had the best service we have had in a long time Sunday night at New Life Baptist Church in Goose Creek. They came expecting God to move and he did. That is exactly what we are looking for in a church. We just want people to come expecting God to move and not just coming to hear us sing.

With Mark coming on board we want to thank some very special people. First of all Elizabeth Person, what an awesome job she did filling in basically over the last 2 years since Karl left. We never missed a beat because of her dedication to Holy City. Also to Rod Person who ran sound for us the last 3 and a half years. With Elizabeth coming off the road, Logan getting older and more involved in different things at home, along with other needs for him to be home, Rod decided to come off the road also. We totally support Rods decision. He is running sound for Michael Hayes closer to his home so he is getting the best of both worlds. He is able to be home and still run sound which is what he loves to do. Good for Rod! We are happy for him. He is a great guy.

Just to let everyone know we will begin working on a new project as soon as we can get it in the budget. We are not real sure exactly what we are gonna do with that right now but we all want it done and are working to try and get it done. We may mix some old songs with some new ones but we really aren’t sure right now. We all just know we want to get something done with the new members. The new line up sounds great together and we are really excited about getting a new project.

We did sell the Isaiah, the bus, and are now back to traveling with the trailer. Guess what? God still moves even if you aren’t traveling in a bus! Granddad doesn’t know what to do during the week now because he doesn’t have Isaiah to work on. I guess mom will have to let him fish more now. Oh what a life of retirement.

Mike

August 08, 2006:
As Gomer Pyle would say, “Surprise, Surprise, Surprise”, our web site is up and running. It looks great and Mark, for a bass singer, has done a great job creating the site. Believe me he has heard it all from all of us and now we all owe him a big “Thank you”, for the work he has done.

Things are busy and that is a good thing. Now we are hitting the busy time of the schedule and they are getting even busier. NQC is around the corner and this year we have two opportunities to sing in different showcases during the week. The first is our own showcase that we are sponsoring along with the Southern Gospel Music Lovers (SGML) website. It will be Wednesday September 13, 2006 in the Queen Room of the Executive West from 10am – 12:30pm. Following that there will be a Song Writers showcase at 1pm featuring Gerald Crabb, Dottie Rambo, and Zane King that will last till 3pm, with an autograph session at the end. Our next showcase will be Thursday at the Heaven Sound showcase in the Canterbury Room of the Executive East. We are looking forward to both of these events. Our booth at NQC is booth 424. If you are at NQC this year please stop by and say hey to all of us.

Our new project, Special Edition, has been released and sounds really good. The guys at Mill West Studio in Fayetteville did a great job leading us through this recording. We also want to thank Sharen Alexander, of Rose of Sharen Production, for doing another great job on our music tracks for this project. Let us know if you need a copy of Special Edition and we will get one to you for $15 and we will take care of the shipping cost.

We have been all over the road the last couple of weeks and had some great services and have continued to see people getting saved and Christians being uplifted. This is why we travel and God has continued to bless our ministry. Take a look at the schedule and see if we are gonna be in your area. If we are, please take the opportunity to come and be with us in a service. We look forward to meeting you all!

Longing for that Holy City,

Mike
